Purpose

At Asia Gymnastics & Dance Academy, we work with children and young people across programmes ranging from KinderGym to the National Proficiency Awards and the Singapore Gymnastics Levels. We take seriously our responsibility to provide an environment that is caring, nurturing and safe.

We are committed to equity and diversity. We actively anticipate children’s diverse circumstances and respond effectively to those with additional vulnerabilities. All children have access to information, support and complaints processes, and we pay attention to the needs of children with disabilities and from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Our management endorses this commitment to keeping children and young people safe from abuse and neglect. Everyone involved in the Academy – management, staff and volunteers – must protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, bullying and exploitation, be alert to incidents of abuse that may occur outside our sport, and create and maintain a child safe culture that is understood and put into action by all.

Responsibilities

Management

Management promotes our commitment to child safety and ensures policy objectives are communicated and integrated across the Academy. They support the development and regular review of the Child Safe Sport policy, monitor its implementation and compliance, allocate resources and encourage discussion, and advocate for children’s rights and a safe sporting environment.

Manager

Managers ensure staff understand child safety obligations through induction and training. They develop and implement relevant procedures, allocate resources, support staff and provide debriefing, promote children’s rights, and oversee recruitment and screening processes including interviews, reference checks and Working with Children and national police checks.

Staff & Volunteers

Staff and volunteers maintain an understanding of child protection obligations, complete induction and training, seek guidance when needed, act to protect children and young people, and help create a child safe culture.
